Chapter 831 - The Law of Time
Chapter 831 - The Law of Time
“But how?” Han Wu asked. “I can’t absorb any more Divine Jurisdictions.”
At the moment, he also had a complete Concealment Jurisdiction in his hands. While it was only a minor Jurisdiction, he had known upon touching it that he had no way to absorb it.
Xu Hai smiled. “That’s not something you need to worry about. I’ll show you the way. The most popular method in the Divine Civilization right now is to use powers and abilities as the vessel for reserve Divine Jurisdictions. The stronger the abilities, the more powerful the Divine Jurisdiction they can hold, and you have no shortage of abilities.”
Han Wu nodded in understanding.
“But there’s one thing you need to do before you use this method,” Xu Hai continued. “You need to push your existing Divine Jurisdictions to their absolute limit. Only when your Divine Jurisdictions are developed to the point of approaching a complete Divine Jurisdiction can you use this method to absorb the reserve Divine Jurisdictions. How are your two Divine Jurisdictions coming along?”
Han Wu checked the data of his Divine Jurisdictions. His Conversion Jurisdiction had already reached 85% while his Duel Jurisdiction was at an astonishing 98%. If Han Wu wanted to ascend into a God King, he only needed to push his Duel Jurisdiction to 100%.
However, after his recent growth, Han Wu had started to feel that the Duel Jurisdiction was not quite a perfect fit for him. He also had no desire to ascend into a God King so soon.
With great power came great responsibility. Ascending into a God King meant taking on certain kinds of responsibilities from the Will of the Divine Civilization. Han Wu simply wasn’t ready to shoulder that yet. He wanted to build a stronger foundation first.
Xu Hai was visibly surprised at Han Wu’s progress. He had never expected Han Wu to have pushed his Divine Jurisdictions to such a level so quickly.
Only Han Wu himself knew how many battles and close calls this had taken. His strength had only grown at this terrifying pace because he had pushed himself. Even as a Major God, he had already reached the power level of a Subcosm life form, and his two Divine Jurisdictions played no small role in that.
Xu Hai couldn’t help but wonder, If Han Wu absorbs a few more reserve Divine Jurisdictions, just how powerful will he become? Han Wu could surpass the God King of Death upon ascending and become the strongest individual in the Divine Civilization.
This thought was one Xu Hai kept to himself. The God King of Death was shrouded in mystery, and the strength he had revealed so far could only be the tip of the iceberg. The most pressing matter for the time being was getting Han Wu to push his Duel Jurisdiction to the limit.
Han Wu also needed training of suitable intensity. Xu Hai thought over recent events, trying to find something to put Han Wu to work on.
At that moment, Su Lan asked, “Isn’t He Xu organising an escort mission to the Battleborn Civilization? The Titan Stone from the Battleborn Civilization is excellent for tempering one’s physical body, and that region is in the middle of a war. Arranging for Han Wu to go would do a great deal to help him push his Duel Jurisdiction forward.”
Han Wu was puzzled, having never heard of He Xu before.
“He Xu is also my student and is seven cohorts your senior. He’s helped me with various matters even after graduating,” Xu Hai explained. “The Titan Stone of the Battleborn Civilization really is excellent for tempering the body, and that region is currently at war. Joining this escort mission would help you advance your Duel Jurisdiction greatly. I’ll send you the relevant information. Go over it carefully, and let me know once you’ve decided.”
Han Wu nodded. He didn’t know much about the Battleborn Civilization, and he had never even heard of the Titan Stone before. After receiving the information, Han Wu returned to his divine realm to read it. The moment he arrived, he received a prayer from the Origin of Mutation.
“Vessel, get over here quickly. I’ve got a minor situation on my hands, and I need your help,” the Origin of Mutation said.
Han Wu hurried to the research base that the Origin of Mutation had set up in the Life Microcosm. As he stepped through the door, he sensed a powerful pressure radiating outward from inside the base. Even Han Wu felt a hint of danger from it.
“What on earth have you been researching this time?” Han Wu asked, rushing into the lab.
Inside, the Origin of Mutation and V were staring at Huang Shengjun inside a culture pod where he was serving as the test subject. The Origin of Mutation was gleefully modifying Huang Shengjun’s genes, while V collected all the data generated during the modification.
Nearby, Yakushi Nan, now fully transformed into a tentacle creature, scribbled furiously in their little notebook.
“Vessel, you’re here! Did you feel it? The presence coming off him is extraordinary!” the Origin of Mutation exclaimed, visibly vibrating in excitement.
Han Wu clicked his tongue. He had indeed felt it. That overwhelming pressure had startled him into thinking something had gone wrong, leading him to assume that the Origin of Mutation had created some kind of abomination.
“This test subject is truly remarkable. Through my research, I’ve found that the vast number of lives he carries is connected in some way to the Law of Time,” the Origin of Mutation explained eagerly.
“The Law of Time? Tell me more,” Han Wu said, interest piqued.
From the little he knew of it, it was an extraordinarily rare Law. The Divine Civilization’s records stated that divine realms themselves were built on a foundation of the Law of Time, which was why the flow of time inside the divine realm differed from the outside.
This trait of divine realms had allowed the Divine Civilization to flourish. Even a fragment of the Law of Time would be invaluable to Han Wu’s growth.
“In my research, I found that each time one of his lives ends, it returns to a specific state, which I call the initial state. In this initial state, his strength is fixed, his energy is fixed, and even his soul is fixed.
“My theory is that the deal he made with the Nine-Eyed Evil God was to have his existence locked to a specific point in time. No matter what happens after that, once he dies, he simply resets to that point,” explained the Origin of Mutation.
Han Wu recalled his battles with Huang Shengjun. Huang Shengjun had recovered with full energy and strength each time Han Wu had cut him down, and always exactly the same. That seemed to prove the Origin of Mutation’s theory correct.
“Right now, I’m mutating his genes to see if I can draw out the energy locked inside him,” the Origin of Mutation continued. “The process requires letting him grow stronger first. I was worried he might break free, so I called you over to stand guard.”
Han Wu nodded. The pressure radiating from Huang Shengjun was growing. Han Wu drew Peerless and fixed his eyes on Huang Shengjun. If anything went wrong, he was ready to cut him down and end the experiment.
The eyes of the heavily altered Huang Shengjun inside the culture pod fluttered open. All nine pupils in his eyes flickered, and when his gaze landed on Han Wu, they blazed with sharp light.
“Han Wu, our business isn’t finished!” Huang Shengjun roared.
Strangely enough, he sounded nothing like Huang Shengjun and more like the Butcher.
