Chapter 1251: Did You Have Someone Bring the Birth Control Pills?
Chapter 1251: Did You Have Someone Bring the Birth Control Pills?
The two of them lazed around in bed all day, even ordering room service for lunch.
Leah was originally supposed to take an afternoon flight back to the South Coast the next day, but by the time she remembered, the plane had already taken off.
Richard Shaw didn’t mention anything, actually because he wasn’t sure about Leah’s attitude. Last night was just a tipsy fling, even though he was sober from beginning to end, but one night in bed doesn’t mean anything.
"We’ve been in the hotel all day, let me take you out for dinner, hm?" The man’s tea-colored eyes fixed on her, his voice low and sexy, with a subtle softness.
Leah felt sore all over but really didn’t want to eat hotel food. After being cooped up all day, she felt not only stifled but also anxious. If they stayed here any longer, she might be sweet-talked into another exhausting round by the man.
Even though they were adults, having slept together left her with some lingering discomfort.
"Alright. I’ll take a bath first." She crawled out of the soft covers, her delicate, fair body covered in ambiguous marks left by the man’s indulgence over twenty-four hours, especially around her waist where two bruises had formed.
Seeing her look so languid, Richard Shaw felt a stir of desire, but knowing she was exhausted, he restrained himself and hoarsely said, "Okay, I’ll help you with the ointment later."
Leah gave him a look, grumbling as she got up, casually grabbed his robe to put on, and carried bottles and jars into the bathroom. After a night, the wounds on her knees and calves had already scabbed over and looked unsightly, and it would be a few days before they healed completely.
Leah took off the robe and looked at her reflected body covered in mottled marks, gasping at the sight. It was insane; no wonder she felt sore and tender all over and some places still hurt with a touch.
Grumbling in frustration, Leah sank into the tub. Her head leaned weakly against the edge, wishing she could drown herself. How could she have slept with Richard Shaw after drinking?
She’d really given advantage to that beastly person.
As the hot water soaked her, Leah began to feel drowsy, almost falling asleep until the man knocked on the door, calling softly, "Leah, you’ve been in there for half an hour."
"Haven’t drowned," she mumbled weakly as she got out, putting on the robe and exiting.
The man stood outside the bathroom, dressed in a clean, neat shirt and trousers, tall and handsome as usual, exuding the charm of a mature man, calm and understated, quite different from how he was in bed.
"Let me help you with the ointment, so you heal faster." His voice held a hint of huskiness when he mentioned the ointment.
Seeing the minty green ointment and clothes in his hand, Leah guessed he had someone bring them over. The ointment, clean clothes, and hotel all together were as good as announcing to everyone what they had been up to.
Leah blushed, squinting her eyes, biting her lip as she asked, "Did you have someone bring birth control pills?"
She vaguely recalled they had used up the hotel’s condoms, and afterward, they hadn’t used any protection.
Richard Shaw’s gaze deepened as he walked over, picked her up, and placed her on the sofa, saying lowly, "Taking pills is bad for your health. Your body isn’t in great shape to begin with; you shouldn’t take them. If there’s a baby, give birth to it. I’d love to have a little girl to keep you company. It’d put my mind at ease."
Children are the world’s most wonderful gift. The Shaw family line is thin, almost always passed down one at a time. Casimir Shaw certainly couldn’t be raised by Leah, so Richard Shaw hoped she could become pregnant. Whatever comes of their relationship, having a child would always be a bigger hope.
Leah fell silent for a moment. Casimir Shaw hadn’t been raised by her since he was little, and now he seemed to be showing signs of growing into a little adult.
Whenever she saw Delphine with her pair of adorable kids, she felt a longing too, but their relationship was complicated enough, and having a child would only complicate matters more.
Leah hesitated, but the man had already taken off her robe and was applying the ointment. His long, rough fingers were careful not to scratch her, even scissoring down the calluses on his palms, and he gently applied the cooling ointment with soothing strokes, making Leah feel quite comfortable.
Once Richard Shaw had finished applying the ointment, it was another hour before they finally left the room.
Leah sat in the back seat booking a ticket back to the South Coast on her phone and texted Casimir Shaw on WeChat.
Casimir Shaw: "Mommy, why aren’t you replying to my messages?" followed by a crying face.
Early in the morning, Casimir had discovered that Old Man Shaw had been out all night. He called the office at the Military District head office, only to be told that the Major General had canceled all his plans for the day!
The young lad was stunned; it was the first time Old Man Shaw had vanished in years.
Throughout the morning, Casimir Shaw sent seven or eight messages, but Leah and Richard Shaw were both too busy to respond.
Feeling guilty, Leah quickly typed back with her delicate fingers, "Thomas, have you eaten? Mommy’s in the Imperial City; want to eat together?"
Casimir Shaw: "!!!"
Then came a flurry of excited exclamations, and he promptly sent his location, saying, "I just got out of school."
Leah glanced at the text, looked up at Richard Shaw, and said, "Let’s pick up Thomas and grab dinner together. He just got out of school."
The man took out his phone, glanced at the string of messages Casimir Shaw had sent all morning, noting the crying and pouty faces, and squinted slightly. Hadn’t this kid just come back from the South Coast? With this little third wheel, could they still enjoy their time together?
Richard Shaw looked up, and seeing Leah’s cool, elegant, squinting expression, he swallowed his words of refusal and said in a low voice, "Okay."
A man who doesn’t listen to his wife has no future! The phrase popped into his head, though he couldn’t recall who told him that, whether it was the two brothers of the Howard Family or Ignatius Leclair. In any case, Richard Shaw decided to take it as a golden rule.
Richard Shaw turned the car towards Casimir Shaw’s school, while Leah quickly informed the young lad to wait at school as they’d be there shortly.
Casimir had skipped a grade, now in the second year of junior high. Among the taller second-year kids, he was the shortest, the youngest, and the most handsome, and with his sky-high IQ, he was reputed to be able to go straight to the high school division. As such, he was practically the teacher’s pet, but only among the girls and teachers.
Due to over half the girls in the grade having a secret crush on this high-IQ, good-looking young lad, Casimir Shaw’s jealousy points had skyrocketed.
"Isn’t this our school celebrity, Casimir Shaw? Looks prettier than a girl. Better watch out for weird uncles who might rob you," sneered a chubby classmate, a second-generation official, upon seeing Casimir waiting at the school gate with his bag. He quickly called his entourage, and a group of three or four surrounded him.
The chubby kid rummaged through his bag, pulling out some leftover cherry tomatoes from lunch, then squeezed them in his plump fingers, turning them into red juice, as he attempted to intimidate Casimir.
