Chapter 208 Two Minutes (Please continue reading, sob sob)
Groud watched as Batman transformed into a car and sped away from the battlefield. He threw Reverse-Flash to the ground, and the Speed Force within Reverse-Flash began to be channeled into his body, much like the siphon effect of water; he no longer needed to steal speed from him.
But the escaped car... Just as Grodd was about to give chase, the entire gorilla was blocked by an ice wall.
"Captain Cold..."
Gruud looked at the cold captain, whose face was twisted with a strange smile, with a gloomy expression, and said, "I don't have time to waste on you right now."
He bypassed Captain Cold to chase after Batman and the Flash, but he soon heard Captain Cold's suppressed rage.
"Manipulated me, fooled me like an idiot for so long... ignored me to my face for so long..."
Crackling sounds filled the air as countless frosty frosts condensed on the ground. To Gruud's surprise, even his body, accelerated by the Speed Force, began to slow down in the extreme cold.
He was forced to turn his head sharply and look at Captain Cold.
call!
Standing quietly to the side, smiling silently, the beautiful weather wizard subconsciously stirred up a blizzard as he always had. The frost swept up by Captain Cold mixed with the blizzard and instantly enveloped Gerudo's entire body.
"Hehehe! Hahaha!" Captain Cold's high-flying laughter left a deep impression on Gerd. Facing this group of enemies who were almost savages, he tried to launch a mental attack on them again, just as he had done before, but those simple shocks all went unanswered. Gerd dared not send his consciousness into their minds again. He heard Captain Cold's angry voice:
"I'd like to ask... do you consider me a lowly henchman?!"
Gerud transformed into a golden bolt of lightning, his golden fur billowing in the air. Even on all fours, the lightning crackling around him made him appear as awe-inspiring and unapproachable as a god.
His fist pierced through Captain Cold's body in an instant, but he realized in a flash that it was just a trick by Master Mirror.
"The Rogues are professionals when it comes to dealing with the Flash, Groud."
He turned his head and saw countless mirror images of Captain Cold, manipulated by the Mirror Master, covering the entire rooftop, making it impossible to distinguish which one was the real one.
"You're no longer a member of the Rogue Gang!"
The golden glider, berating his brother, crawled out from the wall beside him: "Ever since you almost killed us all with that gene-recombining machine!"
"But at least now I and the Rogues are facing the same enemy!" Captain Cold said. "Dealing with the enemy in front of us is the most important thing. The Rogues never waste time on revenge."
"Captain Cold is right!" Before the Golden Glider could even speak, he heard his lover, Mirror Master Sam, project an image onto them from a short distance away. Sam then said in an extremely calm manner, "Gruud will destroy Central City. The Rogues will never allow such a thing to happen."
He glanced at the other members of the rogue gang who were itching to act, especially Heatwave, whose hatred for Captain Cold was almost off the charts.
"Besides, the Rogues owe Batman two favors," he said with utmost seriousness. "To repay those favors, we have to take care of Grodd."
boom!
A pillar of fire shot out from the heatwave's chest, and almost at the same moment, Captain Cold stretched out his hands and spewed out a stream of frost.
Frost and flames collided violently. Just when Grud thought the Rogue Gang's negotiations had broken down and they were starting to fight amongst themselves, he watched helplessly as the flames wrapped in frost rushed directly in front of him, triggering a tremendous explosion.
The talking gorilla dodged in a sorry state. Is this really reasonable? Ice and fire fused together and launched?
Lightning, typhoons, hail, blizzards...
The weather wizard followed suit, and countless hailstones and violent winds instantly filled the area where Gerd stood. Gerd, who had just dodged the explosion, was blown off balance by the wind.
Immediately afterward, Gerold tried to replicate the Flash's move of rapidly swinging his arms to create a whirlwind that could blow away a blizzard, but the next moment, his entire gorilla retreated, dodging the Golden Glider's sneak attack.
But the successive, interconnected attacks finally made it impossible for Gorilla Grood to keep track of everyone's movements. Just as he stepped back, a huge burst of ice flowers suddenly erupted from the ground, freezing him completely inside. Within two seconds, the Weather Wizard poured a large amount of water into him, and Captain Cold immediately sprayed out even more cold air to stabilize and reinforce the area.
In an instant, the ice block turned into an iceberg, and the gorilla Grodd was frozen inside like amber.
"He stepped into a trap," Captain Cold said. "I don't believe it. Even an ice block can turn the tables now."
He let out a sigh of relief, turned to his teammates, and said, "That's what teamwork is all about, that's what the Rogues are all about." He continued, "No need to wait for the Flash to come back, the matter is resolved. Let's find some rope and tie up that talking gorilla—"
"Wait, Leonard." Then he heard the weather wizard's voice. The voice sounded a little trembling.
"Look there!"
Click, click, click...
Captain Cold turned around and saw Gerud, who had been frozen solid, break free from it—of course, not that one.
It is the sky.
There was something in the sky that was even more captivating than Gruud.
If Chen Tao were standing here, he would recognize that this is the same type of booming tunnel as Apokolips, and realize that it is obviously someone's doing. However, at this moment, only the members of the Rogue Gang are standing here.
"Evolution. Most rational thinkers have accepted this concept and regard it as historical evidence."
Gerud brushed off the remaining frost from his body bit by bit. He stood beside the Rogue Gang, looking up at the massive sonic boom in the sky.
"Over time, species have gradually evolved genetically to adapt to their surrounding habitats."
He said, "This concept is not new. Darwin called it natural selection, and George Mendel interpreted it with the laws of heredity. In the 21st century, science calls it the modern synthetic theory of evolution."
Captain Cold and his gang of scoundrels stared blankly at the sonic tunnel, watching a colossal creature slowly crawl out of it and into the human world.
"What these theories have in common is that evolution is taking an increasingly long time; it is a protracted process."
Gerd said:
"But there are exceptions. For example, sometimes he can be like a bolt of lightning, and it happens in a flash."
The enormous monster crawled down from the sonic tunnel, and the Rogue Gang finally got a glimpse of its true form:
A gigantic ape, tens of meters tall.
"What...what is that?"
The entire Rogue Gang was shrouded in the shadow of this ape, and Captain Cold swallowed hard.
The giant ape landed on the rooftop with a thunderous roar, its feet piercing through the rooftop floor and embedding themselves into the floor below.
"His name is Titano, Titano the Great Ape." Captain Cold heard Grud's introduction: "A fellow human being who was launched into space by humans, but whose body shape was changed by cosmic rays."
As he spoke, he approached the snarling giant ape, reached out, and wrapped the golden Speed Force around Titanor's body.
Gruud grinned maliciously.
"It will soon teach you what cruelty is."
……
the other side.
The Flash sat in the back of Chen Tao's Batmobile, watching the Turtle Man screaming in agony ahead with lingering fear.
Strands of static force were drawn out from the screaming turtle-man bound to the front, and poured into the carriage as if they were alive, completely connecting the turtle-man and the vehicle together.
Just now he was the one tied to the front and yelling, but now that someone else is on the other side, The Flash, Barry Allen, finally has a chance to take a closer look at the car.
"You modified a part of the cosmic treadmill and then assembled it onto this vehicle," he said after studying it for a moment.
He watched as the stagnant forces flowed over the turtle-man's head, through a strand of his white hair in the front of the carriage, and then back into him, forming a closed loop. A small amount of stagnant force was retained, but quickly abandoned the Batmobile and returned to the turtle-man's embrace.
Immediately afterwards, he saw Chen Tao first transform into the head of a clown in the front seat, and then, amidst a mechanical sound, turn a part of the front seat into a small piece of flesh, and then inject another tube of dark green medicine into it.
"But I still don't understand what the point is," Barry said. "These small amounts of static force don't bring about any fundamental change, just like how you tied me to uh..."
Barry hesitated for a moment, but he continued anyway:
"Tie me to the front of the car, so you can get a small portion of the Speed Force."
Barry wanted to continue, but Batman immediately interrupted him:
"I know that the Speed Force I gained is as weak as that of the apes in Gorilla City, the hometown of Grodd, whose brains were accelerated by the Speed Force and thus gained super-high intelligence. By the same token, I can infer that the Stasis Force gained in the same way will also be just as scarce."
He said.
"So why are you still...?"
Instead of directly answering Barry's question, Chen Tao countered with, "If a strongman can't lift two super heavy dumbbells, wouldn't he be able to lift them if he got other people to help him?"
"What?" The Flash couldn't keep up with Batman's abrupt change of thought. "What does this have to do with weightlifting?"
"If a dumbbell falls and kills someone, can the strongman let go first and let his teammate who's helping him lift the dumbbell take the fall and get injured instead?"
"Please, say something I can understand," Barry said. "Even if you do achieve your goal of static force..."
"Let's not talk about that now."
Chen Tao said.
Several mechanical cables rose out of thin air from the seat where Barry was sitting. When Barry was startled and thought that Batman was going to do something to him again, he found that the mechanical cables simply coiled around his severed leg and then, in just a few seconds, turned into hairy tentacles made of flesh and blood mixed with some metal parts.
Wow.
The Flash stared intently at the two tentacles: "Batman, I didn't know you could do this."
"Just some low-level applications of the red of all living beings..."
"What exactly is this 'Red of All Beings'?"
Don't get distracted!
Chen Tao said, "They're just assisting you; they're definitely not capable of quickly healing your injuries. You need to focus on activating your Speed Force, working in conjunction with these tentacles to accelerate your wounds and allow your severed leg to heal naturally. Gruud is still watching us closely; this isn't over yet."
As he spoke, he manipulated more metallic fleshy tentacles to climb onto the turtle-man tied to the front of the car, and began to insert rivets and metal parts into his limbs, while also using some grotesque-looking tentacles to replace his flesh for treatment.
While treating Barry, he explained, "Turtleman is badly injured. It wouldn't be good if we didn't give him emergency treatment now. We're superheroes, after all; we can't do things that bad guys do."
Countless nanobots climbed onto the turtle-man's body, and he felt a tingling sensation all over his body. The howling sounds he kept making gradually stopped.
Looking at his body, which had begun to recover, he was overjoyed. A torrent of unsolicited praise immediately poured out: "That's right, you're superheroes! You have principles! You did the right thing!"
His eyes darted around, concealing his malicious intent behind his white hair, while his mouth never stopped spouting nauseatingly flattering words:
"You're actually a pretty nice person!"
"I knew the famous Batman had a bottom line, and I apologize for thinking you didn't before."
"It's nothing, it's nothing." Chen Tao shook his head, muttering to himself, "I was mainly afraid that using you two as tools would lead to accidentally killing someone if I went too far..."
"Hmm..." Barry blinked beside him. "Wait, what did you just say?"
"It's nothing. I was just saying that whether it's a teammate or an enemy, life is the most important thing—"
"Click-clack click-clack click-clack..."
Before Chen Tao could finish speaking, Mirror Master's exasperated voice came through the vehicle's communication channel.
"Batman, where are you? You can't let the Rogues face Grodd alone! Damn, where did that guy come from, so big and so fast—hahahahaha!"
The Mirror Master's words were followed by two bursts of maniacal laughter, a result of the Joker's mind constantly connecting to their brains and protecting them from this minor side effect.
With a loud bang, a loud noise came from the other end of the communication channel, along with the sound of a mirror being crushed into powder.
Barry and Chen Tao exchanged a glance.
"Hold on a little longer! Just a little longer!" he shouted into the communication channel, then glanced quickly at the half-dead turtle man in front of him.
With the Metal Spirit forming the skeleton and the Crimson of All Beings repairing the flesh, the opponent's limbs now resemble a human being somewhat.
Chen Tao estimated the time in his mind.
"Just two more minutes, I'll be almost done in two minutes."
He shouted to the Mirror Master, "No matter what, you must hold on for two minutes!"
I've found my magic power again!
