Chapter 130: Cube of pure magic
Chapter 130: Cube of pure magic
"How long is he going to trap himself inside there?"
Jade asked with a worried manner from the woman next to her, two weeks had passed since Ray told both of them to not distract him while he crafted the new station but none of the two excepted it to take two weeks.
"From the first moment he has used most of his magic constantly; what the hell is he even doing?" Marian tried to look into the room, but after a tense blood magic aura surrounded the whole room.
One thing was for sure: if a mistake happened, nothing would have remained out of the bunker.
Meanwhile Ray was sweating under the pressure; the walls of the room had changed into red crystals, all of which were blood crystals handmade by Ray himself. Mixing the materials from Mars with his own blood, he had made two monoliths, one on the ground and one on the ceiling, and the space between them was filled with red gas.
At first Ray wanted to finish with that; going through the normal process it would have just been perfectly fine. The problem was with that way he could never get better in crafting.
"If I can make a pure magic cube that can emit the aura of any magic that I show it, with controlling it, I wouldn’t need to balance the number of base crystals for that magic!" That simple step was the basis of crafting, and it always took the first crystals for it to stabilize.
The problem was pure magic was unstable itself; it reacted to anything it came into contact with, causing it to be destroyed. The solution seemed simple on the paper, yet to do that, Ray had not even eaten anything for two weeks.
Ten thousand dark crystals were gone from the walls of the stations; in the first two days the monoliths and everything else were ready. After that, Ray started to make a cage for the pure magic.
Twenty thousand more and he had had a cube of blood; its structure was simple, it didn’t let anything inside, and the only thing that could come out of it was an aura of magic, not magic itself; testing it and making it stable took five days.
When finally he wanted to test his results, another obstacle came in his way.
"My pure magic has a lot of traces of blood magic inside of it!" Before the cube could get destroyed, Ray dismissed his pure magic.
The cube was designed to be stabilized with pure magic inside of it; with Ray’s mind forcefully keeping it together, it could crash down, burning a huge amount of crystals with it.
Ray took a deep breath; he guided his body into a coma state, decreasing its use of its energy as he poured all of his blood magic into the room.
"It takes a full week for my pure magic to regenerate!"
As one’s level grew higher, their bodies became intertwined with magic, and losing 95 percent of their magic had severe consequences. On the first day, Ray could lose his body, getting lighter, while guiding his magic into the monoliths to make them stronger; his mind developed tens of tasks at the same time. The number of his thoughts in one minute surpassed a million, and he used all of them at the same time.
After that it turned into a race against the clock; he couldn’t sleep or eat or shit, using a little magic to take care of his needs, yet it couldn’t replace the real urges of his body.
As the fatigue of the task increased, the number of thoughts at his disposal decreased; one by one he cut the resources. First he let the magic move freely through the room; it was sealed from the outside world anyway. Afterwards, he let it only take the most important urges of his body.
No matter what happened, he was ready to do whatever it took to make what he wanted.
When the time arrived, Ray could feel the difference in his pure magic; with gentle movement, he started to put it inside the red cube. After completely emptying his pure magic, the cube’s color changed into a white cube made out of clouds.
To stabilize it, the blood magic constantly took some parts of the pure magic to turn them into other parts; that part was on the outer side of the cube, while inside, pure magic took energy from the blood magic to increase its own energy.
A never-ending cycle of energy was going inside the white cube between the two monoliths, yet its structure was so fragile; even with a single touch, it had the chance to turn to dust.
"I did it..." Moving his body after a week was a painful experience, yet the sight of an artifact circling around itself was worth more than any pain that he had to endure.
Two figures burst into the room; upon seeing Ray’s body, Jade gave him a snack, while Marian couldn’t stop staring at the artifact.
"Don’t tell me..." She started to analyze the cube’s structure and open each layer; she couldn’t believe it. "Can I test it?"
"Yeah." Ray himself had no energy left to test it anyway too.
With care, Marian’s warm magic surrounded the cube. As it got absorbed into the cube, a vessel of moon magic was made in the air in front of the cube.
"..." Marian was not a professional crafter; at best, she had to use 35 to craft one of her own moon crystals, but this time as she got to work, with 26 white crystals, a moon crystal lightened the room as it fell into her hand.
Satisfied with the result, Ray stood up. Enough of his magic was refilled to return to his works. "Tell the dark lady I will start from next week. I should get some sleep, and afterwards we can spend some private time."
"Next time that you leave us alone for two weeks, we will force our way inside and go on our way." With a giggle Jade whispered to his mind.
Marian followed him out of the room; her mind was still with the cube. "That thing can break the balance of power on earth so easily; what the fuck is he planning to do?" With the heat between her legs, she decided to think about it later; something more urgent was going to happen.
