Chapter 513 - 512: Damian, Have You Been Drinking?
Bella Acker tucked Aunt Sienna in under the covers and finally took clean clothes out of her luggage, ready to go to the hospital’s communal women’s bathhouse for a shower.
It was already approaching late night, and only occasionally did relatives caring for patients walk by, while the nurses at the station had already begun to nod off.
Bella Acker tiptoed to the communal women’s bathhouse. It was eerie that such a large bathhouse was completely empty; walking in alone felt intimidating.
"Better wash quickly," Bella muttered to herself, stepping into a cubicle, turning on the hot water, and drawing the curtain as she began to undress.
She took off her jacket and sweater and was pulling off the undershirt over her head when suddenly she heard footsteps echoing through the bathhouse.
In such a quiet setting, especially in a hospital, the sudden sound of faint footsteps genuinely startled her.
"Who?" Bella hurriedly pulled the undershirt back on and tentatively asked.
Her voice tightened slightly, instinctively holding her breath, her fingertips trembling a bit.
The footsteps outside seemed to vanish in response to her voice. Bella listened carefully and ensured she couldn’t hear anything further, then boldly tried to lift one corner of the cubicle’s curtain.
But as she lifted a corner, the footsteps started again.
Previously distant and barely perceptible, now the footsteps became heavier, quicker, and unmistakably approaching her direction.
Bella tightly gripped the curtain, turning back inside the cubicle to search for anything for self-defense.
However, aside from the clothes she had hung on the hook, there was nothing else.
"Shoes! Yes! Shoes!" Bella removed her shoes, holding them in her hand, gritting her teeth, ready outside the curtain. As soon as someone came in, she’d swing her shoes to strike.
She was prepared, but after reaching her cubicle, the footsteps stopped abruptly.
The person didn’t pull back the curtain, just stood there outside motionless.
Bella could see the pair of black leather shoes worn by the stranger from beneath the curtain, clearly men’s shoes.
Could she really have encountered a bathhouse creep?
Bella’s heart tightened, contemplating whether to shout for help and if anyone would hear, and her chances of rescue.
Her heart was pounding rapidly, cold sweat dripping from her forehead, yet her gaze was fixed on those shoes behind the curtain, completely in a state of heightened fear.
She dared not make a rash move, fearing provoking the man outside and luring him in.
The two stood silently, separated by the curtain, for what felt like an eternity. Finally, the person outside made a move.
"Whoosh!"
The person grabbed the curtain and briskly drew it open.
Bella reacted instinctively, raising the shoes in her hand and striking at the intruder.
"Slap!" The shoes were caught by the man, and Bella looked up at him in horror, then froze.
"Damian... Damian, why is it you?" Bella couldn’t believe the man who barged into the communal women’s bathhouse was indeed Damian.
Damian Sinclair, upon hearing this, remained silent, clutching her shoes, gazing deeply at her, his entire demeanor exuding an intimidating chill.
Bella’s nose twitched, and she frowned, "Damian, have you been drinking?"
Even with the hot water running behind her, steam billowing around, she could distinctly smell the heavy scent of alcohol emanating from him.
