Chapter 898 - 12_3: Xiao Chong Extra Story
It’s just that government officials generally have thick skins. Xiao Chong has been in the bureaucracy since his youth, developing a skin as thick as a fortress wall. A pampered noble from a wealthy family would really find it hard to pull this off.
Even though Xiao Chong is thick-skinned and shrewd, once his economic issues were alleviated, he immediately closed the reward channel.
Compared to rewards, embedded advertising is much easier to accept.
Just placing the advertised product next to the zither brings a hefty payment, simple as that.
Because Xiao Chong uniquely closed the live-stream reward channel, his audience is highly accepting of the obviously advertised products placed next to his zither, with some even passionately supporting by purchasing them.
And that’s without even showing his face, just his hands.
The short video platform Xiao Chong randomly chose to join witnessed the sudden appearance of an Ancient Zither master with hands that could entrance everyone. Naturally, they went out of their way to curry favor and provide support.
The platform even specifically assigned him a liaison to offer comprehensive support.
He wants to stay low-key, and they maintain his low-profile, absolutely not revealing a shred of his information!
Although he closed the reward channel, in the eyes of the platform, his ability to attract new users and generate traffic was too strong; many students registered because of him.
This is the preferential treatment those with real skills receive. Xiao Chong doesn’t need to personally negotiate; the word "benefit" is enough for the platform to settle everything for him.
After listening to a few songs in Xiao Chong’s music room, Lin Wanwan happily carried her completed homework and the pastries she helped Xiao Chong make back to her home.
Grandpa Lin went to the hotel to work as a waiter today and won’t be back for dinner. They provide boxed meals there.
Lin Wanwan can’t cook herself, so she simply used the pastries and bread Xiao Chong baked in the afternoon as dinner.
Because the oven is large, Xiao Chong baked quite a lot at once and shared many with Lin Wanwan, ensuring she has enough to eat for the weekend.
In the evening, as usual, Lin Wanwan leaned out of the window to chat with Xiao Chong during her study breaks, enjoying the yogurt he gave her for a late-night snack alongside the bread from the afternoon.
Before sleeping, Lin Wanwan looked at her window without curtains and reminded herself once again to go to the fabric market tomorrow to buy a curtain; otherwise, she’d have to go to the bathroom to change clothes, which is troublesome.
The next morning, Lin Wanwan and Grandpa Lin sat together in the dining room having breakfast.
Grandpa Lin took a few Ferrero Rocher chocolates from his pocket and handed them to Lin Wanwan.
Whenever Grandpa Lin works at the hotel, if there’s a wedding banquet, he always gets a few chocolates and candies.
The old man never eats them himself; he always saves them in his pocket to bring back for Lin Wanwan.
"Was there a wedding banquet yesterday?" Lin Wanwan happily accepted the chocolates.
"Yes, it was a wedding." Grandpa Lin smiled happily at his granddaughter, whom he raised single-handedly, full of affection. "Is this chocolate authentic? I heard from your Uncle that some chocolates are fake and not good to eat."
Lin Wanwan nodded, explaining to Grandpa Lin, "Yes, this brand is definitely authentic. Actually, others aren’t exactly fake, they’re just made with artificial cocoa butter, not natural. Grandpa, have a couple yourself."
"As long as it’s authentic. You eat them; they’re too sweet for me."
But Lin Wanwan still peeled open a chocolate, and as Grandpa Lin opened his mouth, she placed it into his mouth: "There’re so many, eat one!"
Grandpa Lin pretended to dislike it, frowning as he ate, commenting: "What’s so tasty about this? I don’t want to eat it. Tsk, so sweet, my tooth aches. You treasure them; quick, eat them all yourself."
Lin Wanwan simply smiled with her lips pursed.
After breakfast, Lin Wanwan rushed to do the dishes and said after finishing, "Grandpa, I need to go to the city today."
"Why go so far to the city?" Grandpa Lin was getting ready for work, donning his uniform as he questioned.
"I want to buy a curtain. People moved in next door, and without curtains, it feels a bit awkward."
"Xiao Chong lives in the northeast room?"
"No, it’s his study room directly opposite mine."
Grandpa Lin pondered for a moment; indeed, this was urgent, so he took out a hundred from his pocket and handed it to Lin Wanwan: "Take this money."
"No need, I still have money."
"Take it." Grandpa Lin stuffed the money into Lin Wanwan’s hand. "Your money is for buying lunch; if you buy curtains, what will you eat?"
"I really don’t need it."
"I told you to take it, so take it." Grandpa Lin waved his hand, making a decision, not allowing Lin Wanwan to argue further. "Children don’t need to worry about money matters. Your Grandpa isn’t too old to work yet. I made an extra 72 yuan yesterday from waiting tables!"
Lin Wanwan had no choice but to take it and planned to return the excess to Grandpa when she got back.
"Alright, I’m heading out to work now. You’re going to the city alone, be careful taking the bus and crossing streets, okay?"
"I know, Grandpa, don’t worry!"
After Grandpa rode out on his electric scooter, Lin Wanwan quickly grabbed a canvas bag and prepared to head out.
