Chapter 3 Tragedy
Chapter 3 Tragedy
"Nie Douzi, run!"
"Sister, run!"
"My child, run!"
As dawn broke, Midouzi, who was staying at the boss's house, struggled to wake up on the soft couch.
In that dream, she rushed home and found a wild beast tearing at her family.
Her older brother, Tanjiro, covered in blood, grabbed a wild beast that was tearing at their mother and shouted at her to run.
This incredibly vivid nightmare caused Midouzi to experience pain.
Large beads of sweat streamed down his forehead.
"elder brother!!!"
A piercing scream shattered the morning's tranquility. Mi Douzi jolted awake from her nightmare, her chest heaving violently, her rapid breathing echoing in the empty room.
She turned her head blankly, looking at the unfamiliar walls and the pale sky outside the window, her mind filled with the tragic scene from her dream.
This was her first time spending the night away from home. The intense unease, coupled with the lingering fear of her nightmares, made her heart feel like it was being squeezed tightly by a hand, and even her breathing trembled.
She didn't even have time to catch her breath before quickly putting on her clothes. Just as she finished fastening her belt, she heard her boss's concerned voice from outside the door.
"Little girl from the Kamado family, what's wrong?"
Mi Douzi flung open the door, her eyes red and her voice trembling with tears.
"Uncle, I'm worried about my family, I have to go back now!"
As she spoke, she clasped her hands together in front of her abdomen and bowed deeply, her posture full of urgency.
The boss looked at her pale face, then glanced at the gradually brightening sky outside the window, shook his head helplessly, but a hint of approval appeared on his lips.
"You children of the Zaomen family all value your home more than anything else."
He stepped aside to make way, waving with a smile.
Midouzi forced a smile, turned around, and rushed into the still-snowy mountain forest.
The cold wind lashed my face like a knife, but the intense unease in my heart grew stronger and stronger, and the images from my dream flashed repeatedly in my mind, becoming clearer and clearer.
"This isn't real, it's just a nightmare... Brother, Mother, younger brothers and sisters, I'll be back soon."
She muttered to herself, looking up at the snow-covered mountain road, her eyes filled with anxiety.
Just as she stepped onto the mountain path, the sun-shaped earrings on her ears suddenly swayed violently, as if pulled by an invisible force, making a soft, clattering sound.
This sudden change caused Mi Douzi's tense nerves to snap instantly.
She subconsciously touched the earring on her earlobe, her gaze fixed on the end of the mountain road, as if the tragic scene from her dream was unfolding right before her eyes.
"No...it's impossible, this can't be..."
Midouzi murmured to itself and sped along the mountain road without stopping for a moment.
Perhaps at that moment, she herself did not realize that she was moving very fast.
The mountain path was covered in snow, and she fell three times, her knees hitting the rocks and bleeding, but she felt no pain.
The clanging of the earrings grew increasingly rapid, like the footsteps of death itself.
As I got closer to my home, my heart pounded faster and my breathing became more rapid.
At this moment, Midouzi felt that her lungs were under tremendous pressure.
Her breathing became increasingly rapid, and the hot breath she exhaled seemed even more intense in the hazy sky.
When the door of her house finally came into view, Midouzi stopped abruptly, frozen in the snow, her pupils contracting violently as fear overwhelmed her like a tidal wave.
The scene before me was more horrifying than any nightmare.
The snow was covered with messy footprints, and rows of torches were stuck haphazardly in the ground, long since extinguished. The once intact door was split in two and hung crookedly on the door frame.
"Brother? Mother? Hanako? Takeo? Shigeru? Rokuta?"
Her voice was hoarse, like sandpaper scraping, and she called out to the house in a trembling voice. Her legs felt as heavy as lead, and she couldn't even take a step forward.
But only deathly silence answered her.
Tears instantly blurred her vision. She opened her mouth wide, but no sound came out. She could only stagger and move step by step toward the broken door.
The pungent smell of blood drifted in with the cold wind, growing stronger and stronger until it almost choked her.
The scene before my eyes kept overlapping and intertwining with the nightmares in my memory, until they finally merged into one.
The nightmare has come true!
The moment Mizuko stepped into the house, her world completely collapsed.
"Ah—Mother!!!"
The mother lay in a pool of blood, her eyes wide open, her pupils still filled with extreme terror, staring straight at the doorway.
That howl, filled with despair and pain, burst from his throat and echoed throughout the silent forest.
Mi Douzi cried out and rushed forward, tightly embracing her mother's cold body. Tears of regret fell like broken beads, splashing onto her mother's clothes and spreading dark stains.
She trembled as she raised her head, her gaze sweeping across the room. Her younger siblings lay lifeless on the floor, their small bodies covered in wounds, their pain making her feel as if she had fallen into an endless hell.
"elder brother?"
Just as she was looking for her brother Tanjiro, she suddenly realized that he was not there!
She immediately looked up and looked around, her moist eyes searching for her brother's figure.
But no matter how you look at it, there is no body of the older brother, nor anything that represents him.
Mi Douzi glanced at her mother in her arms, and with a forced smile, gently placed her back in her original position. Her fingertips trembled as she smoothed her mother's wide-open eyes.
"Mother, I'm going to find my brother... He'll be alright, won't he?"
Sobbing, her voice tinged with a faint, almost unbelievable, sense of relief, she turned and picked up the axe her brother Tanjiro used to chop wood by the door, then resolutely rushed out the door.
But as she stepped out of the room, a dark figure rushed in front of her.
Before the beans could react...
The dark figure tackled her to the ground, and the next second a slash like a wave appeared before her eyes.
"Water Breathing, Fourth Form, Rising Tide!"
At the same time, she heard a calm, indifferent voice.
After rolling around a few times, Mizuko first saw a cold-looking swordsman wearing a strange haori and holding a sword.
His expression was grave as he frowned at me, then raised the knife in his hand and walked towards me.
Mizuko watched this scene with some panic, then looked at the dark figure that was holding her tightly.
That embrace was all too familiar.
From childhood to adulthood, her brother has always protected her when she falls.
But the next second, she smelled a strange, violent scent mixed in with the smell of blood.
When she looked up and met those bloodshot eyes, she finally saw the face clearly.
The dark figure was none other than the older brother he was looking for, Kamado Tanjiro!
But when she saw what her brother looked like, she was also shocked.
But at this moment, he had long lost his former gentle demeanor.
Sharp fangs pierced his lips, and his once neat red hair grew wildly to his shoulders, gleaming with an eerie sheen.
His crimson pupils narrowed slightly from the intense pain, churning with uncontrollable rage.
The faint scar on his forehead had now twisted into a mark resembling a ghostly tattoo, glowing faintly red in the snow.
"Brother...brother?"
